The ICANN requires the owner verification only if the following changes are made to a gTLD (generic, non-country-specific domain - e.g., .com, .net, .org, .buzz, etc.):
- - Change of the organization name, first name or last name of the owner
- - Change of the email address
- - If the combination of name and email address is used for the first time at a new registration
- - When a domain is transferred to a previously unverified combination of name and email address
Each of the above tasks requires an owner verification. An e-mail will be sent to the domain owner's email address. The email includes a link to a confirmation page. In order to complete the verification process, the domain owner must click on the link in the email. This will redirect him to a web page that confirms the successful verification of the contact details.
If the owner verification is unsuccessful after 16 days, ALL domains with this name / email combination will be set to client hold. The client hold status removes the name servers of the domain out of the TLD zone so that the domain is no longer active and accessible.
Client Hold will NOT prevent an update, transfer or domain renewal. Pelase note that Domains will never be deleted due to lack of verification. However they may not be accessible anymore.
Only by completing the owner verification process this Status can be changed.
If you don't have access to the email address linked to your Domain you have to initiate an owner change because this is the only way to update the email address.
